Collaboration & Innovation
The RSIZ is a partnership between five school districts — Brooks County ISD, Freer ISD, Premont ISD, Agua Dulce ISD, and Benavides ISD. Structured as a non-profit organization, the RSIZ is designed as a sustainable collaborative with the possibility to expand over time. The RSIZ launched in 2019 with Brooks County ISD, Freer ISD, and Premont ISD and in 2023 expanded to include Agua Dulce ISD and Benavides ISD. The zone structure allows campuses in the RSIZ to collaborate on rural challenges, develop regionally-specific solutions, provide students with access and transportation to course work and teachers they otherwise would not have had access to, and promote collaboration and innovation among schools and teachers leading to stronger results.
How It Works
Zone students can attend programs at other RSIZ academies, but will remain accounted for within their home school and district.
Transportation will be provided to all students to attend RSIZ academies.
Athletics will be managed and maintained by districts, and districts will continue to oversee their schools and manage in select other areas.
Specific school or district policies and rules will apply to students when they are at that campus, with future consideration of potential modification of rules and policies.
